These days, it’s so easy to sit kids in front of a screen to keep them busy and occupied. But on holiday, kids should be exploring and having fun without the need for their smart devices or technology. At Ramsgate Cottage, we encourage being together as a family and enjoying each other’s company, so we don’t have a TV in the cottage, and we love it!
Great tips for keeping the kids busy minus gadgets
1. Pick an outdoor activity
If you’ve picked a good holiday destination, like Ramsgate, it should be surrounded by a few really fun things to do. If you’re staying with us, you’ll be able to access tons of outdoor activities that the whole family will love. Take the kids on a boat trip to cruise the ocean, or get out the fishing rods and spend the afternoon catching dinner! If you’re a nature loving family, choose an animal related activity. We suggest the Riverbend Crocodile Farm or Butterfly Valley, where the whole family can be educated and awestruck at the same time. If you’re more into adrenaline, then The Wild Coast Sun or Kart Freaks go carting are the way to go!
2. Make use of nature
Staying at Ramsgate means you’ve got the beach for free, all day everyday! Hire a paddleboat, pack the toys or simply spend the day swimming and playing in the ocean. Grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants; we guarantee, by the time the kids get home, they’ll be ready to nap!
3. Stay inside and do crafts
Pick a holiday spot with ample space for fun indoor activities. Whether you’re setting up a painting station on the covered patio, or doing a puzzle on the dining room table, there are ways to keep the kids entertained while also keeping their brains working hard. Get them involved in the kitchen, baking cookies for dessert or muffins for breakfast or set them up with a fun board game or two.
You don’t have to give in to the technology wants of your kids on holiday and they can still have the best time with old-school activities and spending time in the great outdoors! Trust us!
