Who doesn’t love a self-catering beach holiday? And, trust us, once you’ve had one at the luxurious Ramsgate Cottage, you’ll know exactly what we mean! Sunny skies, warm sand, blue sea and loads of family fun thrown in – what a great way to make memories.
But what happens when the rain sets in? We can’t control the weather but that doesn’t mean your holiday is ruined. It just means you have to think about it differently. And, with self-catering accommodation like ours, you’ll have all the home comforts you need (plus your own time frame) to enjoy yourselves.
How to stay entertained on a rainy day holiday
1. Go old-fashioned
Board games, family quiz night, baking with the kids, playing hide-and-seek, treasure hunt, family holiday scrapbook... the list of indoor entertainments that don’t involve the outdoors (or screens for that matter) is endless. Write a list of fun activities you can do indoors and work your way down.
2. Cook up a storm
Cooking can be a fun activity for the whole family and a home-cooked meal is just the thing for a self-catering holiday. Get every member of the group involved in different aspects of the meal and make a day of creating a fantastic feast, complete with a table theme. You’ll have fun and get everyone fed in the process.
3. Get out but stay in
If you’re staying in accommodation close to various indoor attractions (like you would be at Ramsgate Cottage), this is your chance to explore some of the surrounding local attractions without worrying that you are missing out on the sunny outdoors. Hit the shops, try out the local delicacies, and enjoy some undercover family time while you wait for the skies to clear.
4. Get wet
There’s nothing to say you can’t get out and about despite the rain. Pull on some rain gear and prepare to get wet by doing some exercise, exploring, or just having fun close to your home away from home. Young children love to splash in muddy puddles and, since you’re going to get wet anyway, you might as well take that swim or surf if the rain is light and there’s no dangerous weather in sight.
With a little bit of planning, there’s no need to let wet weather mess up your holiday plans. A well-appointed self-catering cottage (like ours) should offer all you need to keep you and yours entertained until it’s time to enjoy sunny skies once more. Whatever the weather, we’re confident that once you’ve stayed at Ramsgate Cottage, you’ll want to come back time and again!
