You’ve taken leave, found your perfect holiday spot, and booked your accommodation (hopefully in a lovely place like our luxury beach cottage). It’s almost time for your family’s beach holiday and you’re excited! But before you dash off into the sunset, it’s a good idea to plan your packing so that your family is free to enjoy your holiday to the full.
Basic holiday packing check list
- ID documents, medical aid card, driver’s license
- Credit cards and cash for food (especially if you’re self-catering) and holiday activities
- Medication – regular and prescription
- Camera to capture those special moments
- Clothing for all kinds of weather and swimming gear, including flip-flops
- Toiletries for the family plus baby products and baby monitor (if you have little ones)
- Devices and chargers (unless you’re planning to go tech-free which is an excellent idea)
- Movies and music for rainy days and relaxation (make sure your accommodation has suitable facilities for charging your devices before you leave home)
- Games, books, and toys for the whole family
- Zip lock bags for dirty laundry and to act as temporary rubbish bags when needed
- For self-catering, you will need all your food and some extras. Check with your accommodation what cooking facilities are available and what items are supplied and add to your list accordingly.
Day at the beach checklist
- Sunglasses and sun hats (and don’t forget the sun block and after-sun gel!)
- Swimming gear and beach-friendly clothing
- Carry all bag or backpack for beach visits
- Cooler bag or box for keeping snacks and drinks cool (check with your accommodation if they have items like this for you to use)
- Refillable water bottles
- Toiletries, hair ties, and baby products (wet wipes are great but the best way to get sand off skin is to use baby powder)
- Beach umbrella or pop-up tent for shelter
- Beach towels and a beach blanket for sitting on
- Beach and water toys
